Gary and Rebecca’s wedding at Muncaster Church, Muncaster Castle and Sella Park Hotel, Cumbria

On the 17th September I travelled to Muncaster to photograph the wedding of Gary and Rebecca. I first met Rebecca at the Netherwood wedding fair in the beginning of the year. After a follow up meeting with both Rebecca and Gary I was very pleased when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. They had also asked for a pre-wedding shoot which we shot at Ravenglass, a wonderful setting, apart from the sea breeze on the day!
I was really looking forward to their wedding; they had chosen some great venues. To start the day I headed to Sella Park House Hotel at Calderbridge, the hotel is owned by the Pennington family and it certainly shows. After a few bridal preparation shot there was a short journey to St Michael & All Angels Church at Muncaster to meet up with Gary. The rain on the day was certainly some of the worst that I have photographed a wedding in, I was so glad my camera equipment is weather sealed but I was still concerned as to the effect all this water would have on the electronics.
The weather certainly didn’t seem to be affecting the spirits of Gary and Rebecca and after the service, with a brief break in the rain we managed to get onto the terrace next to the church which has some fantastic scenery in the background. Once we had got a few shot we then headed over to the castle for drinks and canapés in the Great Hall. On route we had a few moments to capture some great shots with the 1937 Rolls Royce wedding car supplied by ‘Cars of Distinction’.
I had hoped that we could get some formal shots with the guests using the gardens at Muncaster but because of the weather that wasn’t an option. We did manage to get a few inside the castle with Gary and Rebecca. (A huge thank you to Sue for allowing us to get these shots).
Once we were all back at Sella Park Hotel the wedding party enjoyed a wonderful meal and afterwards we managed to get a few formal photographs once the weather had cleared. Despite the torrential rain I think we made the best of the day and I believe the weather also helped to get some dramatic shots of the scenery and the castle.
Below is a selection of my favourite images from one of the best Lake district wedding venues.

Just looked at the pictures - AMAZING! Really captured the spirit of the day, despite the rain!! Can't wait to see the finished album.
