Michael and Sarah’s wedding at St Begas Church, Bassenthwaite and New House Farm, Lorton.

I am always excited when I have the opportunity to photograph a wedding at great venues, St Bega’s Church on the shores of Bassenthwaite and New House Farm near Lorton are two of these great place. Because of the location of St Begas, Michael and Sarah had a ‘wellie’ theme for their service as you can see from a few of the photographs below. It was great to see many of their guest entering into the spirit of it all too.
Sarah arrived at the church in a VW camper van (called Harry) which was supplied by ‘Rainbow Camper hire’ who are based in Keswick. The camper van is a 1965 "Split Screen" Volkswagen camper he spent his first 40 years in sunny South Africa.
After the service and some group photographs we all headed to New House Farm near Lorton. The wedding receptions at New House Farm are held in the Hayloft of an original Lakeland barn. The venue is fantastic for those couples who want a very unique and personalised wedding as the barn provides a blank canvas for the couple to work with. I would certain recommend anybody looking for a venue to go along and have a look; it’s in a fantastic location and very well run. Michael and Sarah had certainly made it their own for the evening.
After the meal and the speeches the couple and all their guests enjoyed a Ceilidh band and everybody was certainly in high spirits for the evening. Below is a selection of images from these great Lake District venues.
