Paul and Anya’s wedding at Lamplugh Church and Lodore Falls Hotel, Borrowdale, Keswick

On the 23rd April I attended the wedding of Paul and Anya to photograph their big day. The weather over the Easter bank holiday weekend had been fantastic, so we were all a little surprised on the morning of the wedding to have wind and showers. Throughout the day we managed to dodge and avoid the worst of the weather and the results down by Derwent for the photographs are great with some very moody skies.
The service was held at Lamplugh Church, this is a very rural and small church but typically Cumbrian with a warm welcome. After the service we took a few pictures outside the church with the 1930 Rolls Royce that Paul and Anya had hired from ‘Cars of Distinction’ based in Penrith, Cumbria.
After this we all then headed to Lodore Falls Hotel in the Borrowdale valley just outside Keswick. A great venue especially if the weather permits some outdoor photographs with a great range of different back drops from the hotel ground and stone bridge, the lake with the jetty and mountain views and a small car journey to Ashness Bridge and surprise view. Today we only had enough time to pop down to the jetty for 10 minutes but we still managed to get a great selection of shots before a short walk back for Paul and Anya to re-join their guests and sit-down for the wedding breakfast.
After their meal came the speeches which is certainly one of my favourite parts to photograph, with lots of genuine emotion from laughter to embarrassment!
Below is a selection of my favourite images from the day.
