Quick answer
Is a wedding highlight film right for you?
A wedding highlight film is ideal if you love the idea of having movement, atmosphere and emotion from your day, but you do not necessarily want full wedding videography. It is a short, music-led film made from carefully captured clips throughout the day, designed to complement your photographs rather than replace them.
Typically 5 to 6 minutes
Natural, relaxed and music-led
High-res and mobile versions
No ceremony or speech audio
Wedding highlight films to complement your photography
I offer wedding highlight films as an optional add-on to my Lake District wedding photography packages. Photography is still the main focus, but with professional hybrid cameras, a DJI gimbal and optional drone footage where suitable, I can also create a short, beautifully edited film of the day.
The film follows the same approach as my photography: calm, relaxed and unobtrusive. I am not there to direct a production or make you perform for the camera. I am looking for the real bits: movement, laughter, nerves, atmosphere, weather, hugs, chaos and all the lovely stuff that is hard to sum up in one still image.
If you would like to understand how I work more generally, you can read about my style of wedding photography. The highlight film is simply an extension of that same calm, documentary approach.

Unobtrusive coverage that does not take over the day
One of the biggest reasons couples book me is because I keep things relaxed. I work quickly and efficiently when needed, but most of the day is photographed in a documentary style: natural reactions, laughter, nerves, happy tears and the moments you do not even realise are happening.
That same approach makes it possible to capture short video clips in between stills, without turning your wedding into a production. I am not going to stop the day, ask you to repeat things or make everything feel stiff. The film should feel like your wedding, not a behind-the-scenes advert for your wedding.
If you are also thinking about a second wedding photographer, albums, or extra coverage, the wedding prices page has the current options in one place.
Wedding drone footage in the Lake District
I’m a registered CAA drone pilot and use DJI drone technology to capture aerial wedding photographs and cinematic establishing footage when the venue, timings, weather and permissions allow.
Drone footage is especially useful in the Lake District because it gives a sense of place. It can show the lake, fells, venue and landscape in a way that helps the highlight film breathe.
It is never forced. If the weather is wrong, the location is unsuitable or timings are too tight, I will not make the day revolve around it. The couple and the story come first.
Is a highlight film the same as booking a wedding videographer?
No. This is an important distinction, and I would much rather be clear about it from the start. A wedding highlight film is a great add-on to photography, but it is not a replacement for a dedicated wedding videographer.
A full wedding videographer or filmmaker can provide longer, more detailed coverage, often including your full ceremony, speeches, recorded sound and a dedicated film-first workflow. My highlight films are different. They are short, music-led films created from carefully selected video clips captured while I am also photographing the day.
If you are considering both photography and full videography, I’m always happy to recommend trusted professionals I’ve worked alongside. Good communication between photographer and videographer makes a huge difference to the flow of the day.
