Choosing suppliers

A few things worth checking before you book

A beautiful Instagram feed is lovely, but weddings also need reliability, timing, communication and calm problem-solving. That matters even more in the Lake District, where venues can be rural, weather can change quickly and travel time is not always obvious from a map.

  • Ask whether they know your venue or have worked at similar Lake District venues.
  • Check travel costs, setup time, parking, access and whether they need power or shelter.
  • Look for recent real weddings, not just styled shoots or highlight reels.
  • Choose people you trust to work well with your venue, photographer, videographer and planner.
  • Book key suppliers early if your wedding is on a Saturday, bank holiday or during peak summer.

The best wedding supplier teams do not just make things look good. They help the day feel calm, connected and properly looked after.

Supplier questions

Questions couples often ask when choosing wedding suppliers

When should we book wedding suppliers in the Lake District?

For key suppliers such as photography, venue, video, makeup, hair, floristry and entertainment, earlier is usually better, especially for Saturdays, bank holidays and summer dates. Some weekday or smaller weddings can be more flexible, but the most in-demand suppliers often book well ahead.

Should we choose suppliers who already know our venue?

It can help, especially at rural Lake District venues where access, timings, weather plans and room layouts can make a difference. That said, experienced suppliers are used to working in new places, so communication and preparation matter more than having worked at the exact venue before.

Are these suppliers personal recommendations?

This hub is a directory of useful supplier categories and local planning resources. On individual supplier pages I may mention people or businesses I have worked alongside, but couples should always check style, availability, reviews, terms and whether each supplier feels like the right fit for their day.

How do we make sure our photographer, videographer and content creator work well together?

Good communication is the main thing. It helps when everyone understands the timeline, who is taking the creative lead at each point, and how to avoid overwhelming the couple. I am very happy working alongside professional videographers and content creators when the approach is calm and collaborative.

Can you recommend suppliers personally if we book you?

Yes. If you book me for your wedding photography, I am always happy to suggest suppliers I have seen working well at real weddings, especially if I know your venue, style and priorities.
